Realizing that there was a huge void in the supply of replacement parts and accessories for this young industry (ceiling fans only became popular around 1977 due to the energy crunch of the late seventies), John started FANTEC, INC., which he still owns and serves as President. FANTEC was the largest supplier of ceiling fan replacement parts and accessories servicing customers worldwide.
John has numerous industry-related patents which set FANTEC apart from its competition. FANTEC has been a core vendor to the world's largest home center,THE HOME DEPOT, since 1989. It wasn't until April of 2007 that John finally decided to resign as the supplier of fan parts and accessories to Home Depot because his passion for his other business took hold and he wanted to devote his time to developing this new, exciting venture. Also, John is known for his ability to beat the competition to the punch when an opportunity presents itself. Opportunities are seldom perfect, but if you are not ready for them, they will not come again.
Taking his knowledge and expertise in the ceiling fan industry and combining it with his love for hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors, John united these core competencies with his passion to create a vision now known as John Marshall Design, LLC. John Marshall's goals were far reaching. First, he would be the premier manufacturer of themed ceiling fans and other accessories, but while others were trying to figure out just how he did that, he set a plan in motion to put John Marshall Design on the map as the foremost company for bringing consumers "What You Love For Where You LiveT". John Marshall Design is a lifestyle company, creating and innovating products that allow enthusiasts in many different areas to bring their passion home, to the office, ranch, lodge, or anywhere they want to go and reflect on the things that mean the most to them.
The future plans and high-reaching goals for this small company have continued to nurture a deep, burning desire to do more, perform better, and simply be best-in-class. With this huge growth and expansion, John realized the need to surround himself with the best people he could who would share in the vision and take a vision that was once his own and make it a shared mission for excellence and a stubborn, tenaciousness for success. |
